The King Boletus Mushroom Festival

The King Boletus Mushroom Festival is a two-day seminar on hunting wild mushrooms.  The event takes place in mid-August in Buena Vista.  The workshop begins with a half-day lecture on locating and identifying Rocky Mountain mushroom species.  In the afternoon, participants split into groups and follow a mushroom expert into the forest.  After the foray, class continues with more identification and with a wild mushroom tasting session.

The second day starts with another foray into the mountains.  At noon, participants and their mushrooms gather in the classroom for a mushroom-based lunch, cooking tips, and a final session on identification   

Attendance is by reservation only.  There is no commercial fair and no drop-in activities. To register, contact Buena Vista Heritage.
