Welcome to Leadville.

 

Leadville sits in the heart of Colorado high in the Rocky Mountains.  At an elevation of 10,430 feet it is the highest incorporated city in the North American.   It is surrounded by impressive mountain views with Mount Massive, the second highest summit in Colorado, towering to the west of town.

 

A visit to Leadville is like taking a step into the past.  Its large historic district offers visitors a glimpse of the town as it might have look.  The Leadville mining district encompasses twenty seven miles and its historic town seventy square-blocks.  It is designated as a National Historic Landmark District.  It is easy to imagine when the streets were filled with silver miners, those seeking their riches in this wild, rich boom town.

 

History lovers will enjoy Leadville's wealth of historical attractions which include National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum and the Healy House & Dexter Cabin State Museum, a three-story Victorian boarding house.  Leadville is truly a one-of-a-kind town.

Year-round outdoor adventures await visitors to the area.  Summer welcomes campging, hiking, fishing, atv’ing, mountain biking, marathons and more.  The Colorado Trail & Mineral Trail traverses Lake County providing terrific hiking and biking trails. Winter brings cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling and so much more.
